Trafalgar square, London

Trafalgar Square is a large square in the center of London. Three major streets converge here, Whitehall, The Mall and Pall Mall. The intersection itself is called Charing Cross and is considered the center of the city.

The name Charing Cross is derived from the fact that the village of Charing once stood here, where King Edward I had a memorial cross erected in 1290.
