Important Information on Accessibility
1. Accessibility Statement
BB Services GmbH is committed to making its website accessible in compliance with the Accessibility Strengthening Act (BFSG).
This accessibility statement applies to the following pages:
2. General Description and Key Features of the Services
Our website serves as an online shop for detailed building kits and models. You can browse products, add them to an electronic shopping cart, and place paid orders. We also offer instructional videos that you can watch directly on our site.
At the top of the website, you’ll find a main navigation menu with product categories leading to overview pages. Each category displays a selection of sets and individual parts, which you can explore on detail pages. Below each product, you’ll find information on features, contents, and price.
The ordering process is handled via an electronic shopping cart. After selecting your items and clicking “Checkout,” you will be guided through login/guest checkout, entry of shipping and payment details, and an order review before placing a binding order.
3. Description of Service Delivery
3.1 Purchase
- You select a category via the navigation and receive an overview of available products.
- With “Add to Cart,” you place items non-bindingly into your cart.
- To complete your purchase, you log into your customer account or choose guest checkout.
- You submit a binding order by clicking “Place Order with Obligation to Pay.”
- Before submitting, you see all entries in an order summary and can correct any errors.
- After completion, you receive an automatic confirmation email.
3.2 Instructional Videos
- On dedicated product detail pages with video content, you can click to open an explanatory video.
- Videos are embedded via YouTube and include automatically generated captions.
4. Accessibility Status
This website currently partially complies with the requirements of EN 301 549 V3.2.1 (2021-03) in conjunction with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA. We are continuously working to implement the remaining requirements by December 2025.
5. Measures Already Implemented
- Semantically structured HTML with headings (H1–H4) and ARIA landmarks (< main >, < nav >, < footer >).
- Alt text for logos and most product and navigation graphics.
- Accessible forms: labeled input fields and clear error messages.
- Skip links (“Skip to content”) for keyboard users.
- Responsive design: layout adapts to all screen sizes.
- Breadcrumbs for orientation, correctly marked up as a list.
- Prices presented as text and not embedded in images only.
6. Non-Accessible Content and Planned Measures
1. PDF Documents
Under “Service → Building Instructions,” BlueBrixx provides PDF files. These are not currently prepared according to PDF/UA (ISO 14289-1), meaning tags for heading structure, alternative text for graphics, and a logical reading order are missing. Since all PDFs were published before June 28, 2025, Article 1(4)(2) BFSG does not apply.
Measures: Future PDF documents will be created to be accessible.
2. Embedded Videos
All product and instructional videos not embedded via YouTube currently lack captions and audio descriptions. This limits usability for people with hearing or visual impairments. These are recorded time-based media published before June 28, 2025, and therefore are not covered by BFSG Article 1(4)(1).
Measures: Future self-hosted videos will be made accessible, with selectable captions (TTML/VTT) and audio descriptions in the player.
3. Keyboard Navigation
The search function, mega-menu subitems, variant selection on product pages, and tab selection on product pages are currently not operable via keyboard. Additionally, the following issues have been identified:
- Main Menu (Mega-Menu): When tabbing, a “Skip to content” link is missing and some subitems cannot be reached via Tab/Shift-Tab.
- Variant Selection on Product Pages: Selection fields (colors, themes) cannot always be focused via keyboard.
- Shopping Cart Modal: When opening, focus remains in the background, preventing screen reader users from interacting correctly.
Measures: These non-conformities will be addressed through updates and revisions by December 2025.
4. Color Contrast
Some interface elements (e.g., buttons, links, navigation) have insufficient color contrast, making them difficult to read for people with visual impairments.
Measures: All text and interface elements (links, buttons, icons) will be updated to a contrast ratio of at least 4.5 : 1, and the color palette will be revised with WCAG-compliant design tokens by December 2025.
5. ARIA Attributes
Certain interactive areas (e.g., shopping cart, forms, product filters) currently lack sufficient ARIA attributes, limiting usability with screen readers.
Measures: Proper ARIA attributes will be implemented in stages by December 2025.
